The Lakes Softball program is starting off the season with a fresh mentality and new goals. The team is entering the season with four exceptional seniors: Olivia Tautges, Aubrey Murray, Aurelia Carraro, and McKenna Gray. All of these seniors have been in the softball program for all four of their high school years and Olivia Tautges is committed to play at the next level for Ave Maria University. The captains leading the team are Senior Olivia Tautges and Junior Zoey Christian. The team has high goals for themselves this season.
“The team’s goals for the season are to focus on a one pitch at a time mentality and from there build on our wins to win conference and regionals,” said Tautges. “I think the one pitch, one play at a time mindset will help us be more successful than last season.”
Expectations are high this season for the girls, and to be successful, they are looking at things to improve on from last season.
“We hope to be able to improve the overall team dynamic and bond because when you learn how your teammates play you can adapt to better support one another on the field. As a team, we need to get our bats going early and have more consecutive hitting rallies,” said Tautges.
With a new mindset and preparation the team is going into the new season with high expectations and post season goals. The girls will be a team to watch this season and are looking to have a lot of success in the regular and post season.
