Every match this year for the D117 Seagles, the bowling ball rolls, the pins crash down, the audience applauds, and the players celebrate.
A successful season, the Seagles qualified for regionals under coach Kyle Baker.
Coach Baker praises the team’s amount of players this season. Baker said, “[o]ur main goal has been getting the game out to more students at Antioch and Lakes, and it did very well.” The Seagle boys were hot, putting up a five game winning streak during the season.
“This is what we work for. It shows we put in a lot of hard work, and it paid off.”-Kyle Baker
Improvement from the 24-25 season to 25-26 was also key in the Seagles’ success. “[We] have a lot more depth this year than last year; last year we were good based off our best players, but now we are even better because of our depth; we have more than just a few good players” Baker said. Despite these successes, Baker acknowledges weaknesses, as he has said “[players] were not bowling in the offseason; we have had many bowlers show up to start every season feeling not improved, so we need to work on bowling in the offseason to ensure they are ready for the season.” Baker also thinks “[there] should be more players on the team next season, it can help us split up the team into just Antioch and just Lakes, rather than the combined D117 team.”
Although the goals for most teams are for championship glory, Baker wouldn’t need that to be satisfied. All he would need is for “[everyone] to reach their potential so they can achieve their goals.”
