As the season begins, the Lakes varsity boys volleyball team is already showing signs of growth and determination. Players say this year feels different, and in the best way. Junior Logan Hughes shared that the overall energy has shifted in a positive direction.
“I think that the team chemistry this year is so much more positive than last year,” Hughes said. “We’re hungry to win and are focused. We show lots of grit, focus, and hustle every single day.”
That drive has translated into strong practices and a clear mindset. Hughes explained that the team is locked in on what he calls the three controllables: “focus, attitude, and effort,” adding that the team is committed to giving all three in every game, practice, and moment on the court.
The juniors also credit the environment around them, especially the leadership from the younger ones. According to junior Baasim Akhtar, the support system within the lineup plays a big role in how well the team works together.
“The team chemistry is the best it’s ever been during my time at Lakes,” Aktar said. “It’s good that our team can balance working hard and enjoying our time together.”
With a strong start to the season and players who are fully bought in, Lakes boys volleyball is heading into the coming weeks with confidence and a team chemistry stronger than ever.
