Coach Grant Murray

Lakes Girls Basketball has had a variety of coaching changes at every level These changes have consisted of new coaches, coaches moving levels, and even coaches leaving. One specific coaching switch impacted 5 players the most when Grant Murray took over as the head varsity coach.

The Lakes Girls Varsity Basketball 2025 Seniors were gifted the chance to be coached by someone they had a special connection with. Head Varsity coach, Grant Murray, started his Lakes Basketball career coaching this amazing group of girls. Murray took every opportunity and made the best out of it. Murray’s coaching centers on open communication and is what this group of five girls liked most. Coach Murray ended up with these seniors for their last varsity basketball season, but also coached them their freshman year.

Seniors, Kaylee Anderson, Caitlin Bloom, Adelyn Martin, Emily Ovaska, and Kaylie Schnieder, made a connection with coach Murray like no other athletes could. They could goof off and have fun, but also be serious and work hard. This connection between coach and players is one they will never forget and are forever grateful for.

Adelyn Martin is a senior at Lakes and this is her second year on the Talon Sports staff. This year she holds a leadership position as the staffs’ first Special Project Manager. In her free time, she enjoys going out with friends and trying new things. She is a varsity player on both the girls volleyball and basketball teams here at Lakes, and plays club volleyball in her spare time. Her favorite athlete is Frank Thomas.

Gisele Muzones, Editor in Chief

Gisele Muzones is a senior at Lakes Community High School. This is her third year writing for Lakes Student Media and is current head photographer and editor in chief for Talon Sports. Gisele is president of the Filipino American Student Association and heavily involved in the visual arts. In her free time she does freelance photography, videography, and illustration and enjoys traveling.
