What to watch for:
“Every year you want to do better than the year before. We have very talented kids who are accomplishing everything that we’ve been challenging them with. They’re great teammates that encourage each other and are making tremendous growth and are taking accountability on the mat. So making school history is something that would be great to do and I would say is our major goal this year. Only 2 teams have brought home state trophies and both belong to Girls Cross Country. The goal is to come home with hardware and if you were not inspired by the Girls Cross Country state celebration, I would ask if you’re even an athlete or competitor. They made school history and can say they’ve accomplished something that nobody else has. As our cheer states “The title belongs to Lakes” now our athletes have to put in the work to earn it.”

With the cheer team already making school history by going to state 3 years in a row, they have a lot more goals to accomplish. The girls want to make it to state 4 years in a row, but they also want to do more than that. Lakes Cheer has never made it to Day 2 of State. By doing that, they need to get Top 10 on Day 1. After seeing the Girls Cross Country state celebration, the girls knew they wanted that too and to get that, they will need to get Top 3 on Day 2 of State and come home with the hardware. This year their cheer states “The title belongs to Lakes”. Now the girls have to prove that.
