Most Anticipated Hip Hop/ Rap Albums of 2021
In 2020, the hip hop/Rap industry pushed its boundaries during an unprecedented time, with record-breaking albums. Pop Smoke’s “Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon”, Lil Baby’s “My Turn”, or even hip hop’s alleged king Lil Uzi Vert’s “Eternal Atake.” all helped grow the industry’s ever-growing fanbase and push its influential culture. However, as we put 2020 behind us, we look forward to what 2021 hip hop/rap has to offer its forever starved fanbase. While many details of the anticipated projects were obtained in very unorthodox methods, here are the most expected hip hop/Rap albums of 2021:
Drake- Certified Lover Boy: When mentioning the kings or leaders of hip hop, Drake is perhaps one of the most mentionable names on that list. Drakes’s ability to create pop/hip hop tracks that are catchy yet deep with lyrical meaning highlights the reasons why he is the number one streamed hip hop artist of 2020. The project has been teased by the artist himself with slick social media teases that fans believe to be connected to the albums. Contrary to Drake’s trendy upbeat production style, “Certified Lover Boy” is expected to be a more R&B album, full of melodic tracks that appeal to the listener’s more emotional side. Whether this album is emotional or exciting, make sure to keep your eye out for Drake’s next big hit this coming year!
Travis Scott- Utopia: Another artist at a very similar level in their career to the aforementioned Drake is Travis Scott! Travis Scott this year is expected to release his fourth studio album “Utopia”. This project was teased through his last merchandise collaboration with fast-food chain McDonalds. In addition, the project has already had its singles be released, “Highest in the Room”, and “Franchise”. Similar to Travis Scott’s third studio album “ASTROWORLD”, “UTOPIA” is believed to be centered around an idea of a distant intergalactic world, full of Intense, off-beat, and striking tunes. If this album is anything like Scott’s last project, it will surely catch you off-guard and take you on a ride!
Roddy Rich- Feed Tha Streets 3: When discussing hip hop/rap’s most up and coming artists Roddy Rich is perhaps the most notable. Rich’s last project “Please Excuse Me For Being Anti-social” highlighted his ability to really produce music of the super-star level, landing him the BET award for album of the year. The project was even co-signed with features from fellow stars such as Meek Mill, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, and Ty Dolla $ign. This future project hopes to continue the same vibe of P.E.M.F.B.A-S; showcasing the struggles that come with living in lower-income neighborhoods. Roddy achieves this mood with bold, fast, and rocking beats, that symbolizes the life of a “Trapper”. Be sure to keep an eye on this star as he hopes to establish his name amongst the greats!
