Lakes Baseball Spring Break Florida Trip

As the Lakes Baseball Team returns from Spring Break, hopes are high for the rest of the spring season.

With a record of 4-2, both Coach Kelly and Coach Holst saw many positives that will help attribute to what can be a special season if intensity and energy stay high.

The team was able to find a connection with great chemistry and as Coach Kelly stated, a drive to make each other better. Overall, the team’s defense was able to step up and make great plays to keep their team in the game.

One highlight of the week Coach added was the fact that the games were played in excellent weather conditions of 80 degrees and the sun shining. This prime weather allowed for superb pitching performances against high levels of competition by Matt Grubb, Joe Glassey, EJ Roncone and many more.

One thing the Coaches would have liked to see more of was aggressive hitting on offense, but they were pleased with the overall energy and effort.

Besides baseball, the team was able to experience the state of Florida in a few different ways. They spent one day at the beach and were able to swim in the ocean and spend time outside, just not on the baseball diamond. They were also able to see a Division One baseball game between Jacksonville University and Northern Florida, exposing the team to a higher level of play.

After a week of games in Florida, Lakes Baseball is heading towards a winning season. Coach Kelly and Coach Holst both know they have a good team in front of them, but they have the chance to be a great team.

Don’t forget to come out and see the boys team play against conference teams in the following weeks!
