Kaitlyn Leverenz(Captain) – Kaitlyn has been a member of the Lakes Varsity Dance Team for the past 4 years and is a captain this year. She has been dancing since she was 3, and competes at her studio, Steps Performing Arts Center. Outside of dance, Kaitlyn is also Vice President of the senior class student council and a member of Lakes Women in Leadership. As a captain this year, her role is to choreograph dances and to help her coaches run practices. This team means so much to her and she can’t wait to see what they accomplish during competition season. Kaitlyn is so proud of all the hard work the girls have put in this year and says it’s going to be so hard to leave them next year!
Meredith Rial(Captain) – Meredith is one of the varsity co-captains on the Lakes Dance Team. She has been dancing since she was three years old, been on the dance team for 4 years, and also competed with her dance studio for 3 years. Along with the dance team, she is also a part of the National Honors Society and Lakes Women in Leadership. Outside of school, Meredith enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing with her dog, and dancing at the studio. As a captain, one of her roles is to keep the team organized and on task so they are prepared for all of their games and events. Being a captain of the varsity dance team means so much to her because it is something she has thought about since her freshman year, and being in a leadership role allows her to really bring the team together to make them the best they can be.
Jordyn Yuknis(Captain) – Jordyn has been dancing for 15 years and currently goes to On Your Toes Academy of Dance and this will be her 4th year on the Lakes Varsity Dance team. She is also involved in the student council and National Honor Society. Her time outside of school is spent mostly dancing 6 days a week for about 4-7 hours a day and trying to spend time with family and friends whenever possible. As a captain she takes on responsibilities such as choreographing dances, helping assist coaches with cleaning up their routines, and so much more on a team level. Jordyn wants nothing more as a captain and team member but to see their team grow and preserve together as a whole.
Julia Blasinski – This is Julia’s first year on the Lakes Varsity Dance Team, but she has had experience with dancing since the early age of 3. She has danced with Waterford Dance Academy and Jenny’s Dance Center for studio dance and company, and also in the Nutcracker. The Lakes Dance team has truly made her feel like she is a part of their family, especially since she just joined the team. They never fail to make Julia feel included or put a smile on her face, and she’s so grateful that she decided to be a part of the team. In school, Julia spends most of her time doing sports as a three-sport athlete, competing in Gymnastics and Track alongside Dance. She is also a student council officer because she enjoys volunteering in the community. Additionally, in her free time, baking and scrapbooking keep Julia occupied!
Kara Creagan – Kara is a senior at lakes. Prior to the lakes dance team, she has danced at studios for 14 years, and is currently dancing at Steps in Lindenhurst. She loves bonding with her teammates, as well as performing at the football games.
Olivia Stolzer – Olivia has been on the dance team all four years at Lakes, but before that she danced at Steps Performing Arts Center for eight years. She recently came back to the studio and will be dancing at Lakes and Steps this year! Outside of the studio and dance team, Olivia is involved in the Lakes Women in Leadership Club. When she is not doing these activities, she loves spending time with my friends and relaxing.
Makenzie Wescott – Makenzie Wescott has been on the Lakes Dance Team for 4 years. She started dancing when she was 9 years old but prior to that was a competitive figure skater. Dance is something that she enjoyed doing for fun and when she decided to do it competitively, she knew that it was her sport. Being on the dance team has by far given Makenzie some of her favorite memories in High School from pep rallies, home games, and wearing the uniform all the way to just being at practice. She recently signed up to be in Lakes Women and Leadership which she is so excited to hopefully be a member of! She is undecided if she is going to continue dancing in college but so far has applied to 6 schools where she will be majoring in nursing but until then is going to be soaking up the “lasts” of senior year!
