“Yer a wizard Harry.” If you are a fellow Harry Potter fan like many others throughout the world you can imagine this quote being said by Robbie Coltrane. This quote like many others in the Harry Potter series is iconic and has shaped the childhood of countless people.

The Harry Potter film series concluded in 2011 with the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. In addition, it had a spinoff movie trilogy called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. According to Collider.com, the movies “fell short and underperformed” at the box office.

Now the Warner Brothers company has decided to reboot the Harry Potter series in an attempt to make a huge profit as they did with the original movie series. This reboot will be a tv show focusing on one book per season. This news has made many fans livid for a number of reasons.

One reason is that a lot of people don’t want to support J.K. Rowling anymore after her numerous transphobic comments to the transgender community. According to Forbes.com, Rowling “compared the villains of Harry Potter (known as Death Eaters) to the transgender rights movement.” Many fans, although they love the series, don’t want it to make profits because that means that its problematic creator will also profit.

Another reason is the movies just recently came out. A majority of the Harry Potter fandom agrees that the movies were perfectly cast. They don’t want their childhood comfort characters to be replaced by other actors. Most people seem to agree that unless a series strays far away from the book (like the Percy Jackson series) or is a major flop, a reboot just isn’t necessary.

Regardless of your opinion, this reboot is coming to HBO Max. Hopefully, it will surpass fans’ expectations, but if not this reboot could be worse than getting expelled.
