The Corniest Show in New York

Are you planning on going to New York for spring break? If so I’d recommend seeing Shucked, a new comedy musical during your visit. It features a book by Tony winner Robert Horn, a score by the Grammy-winning songwriting team of Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, and is directed by the Tony winner Jack O’Brien.

The plot follows Maizey, a once-blushing bride who travels to Tampa to save the dying corn in her hometown. Caroline Innerbichler plays Maizey, her latest role before Shucked was Anna in the national tour of Disney’s Frozen. The cast consists of 7 mains, 8 ensemble members, and 4 swings. You can check out some of the songs from the show on YouTube at Shucked Broadway.

Shucked is currently in preview at the Nederlander Theatre and they’ve brought back old preview prices. Tickets are on sale now through September 3rd through Ticketmaster, over the phone, and in person. There is an online $40 ticket lottery and they have $35 rush tickets available. You can find all information about tickets on their website shuckedmusical.com.

Though the show has only been through a few shows so far reviews are raving The New York Times says it “PROMISES EARWORM SONGS & MANY LAUGHS—SOUNDS AMAIZING!” Once previews are done for Shucked it’s sure to secure its well-earned place as a staple on broadway.
