Demanding an Apology from Tom Brady

Demanding an Apology from Tom Brady

It is no surprise that many are calling Tom Brady the “GOAT” after winning Super Bowl LV, making it his 7th Super Bowl win. After a night of celebrating, Lorraine Grohs, daughter of the creator of the Lombardi Trophy, is demanding an apology from Tom Brady.

After a huge win in the Super Bowl, beating Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs 31-9 at their own stadium in Tampa Bay, Tom Brady and his fellow teammates went out into Tampa to celebrate. At some point after the win, the Buccaneers went out into the water where a video of Brady passing the Lombardi Trophy from his boat to his teammates on another boat behind him was taken. This video blew up and was seen by the daughter of the creator of the Lombardi Trophy. She became outraged with these events, and began demanding an apology from Brady. Following this video, there was another video posted of Brady being escorted out by some friends after clearly showing signs of being under the influence. Next week, after the video of Brady being escorted out of the docks, Brady had posted a tweet saying “Nothing to see her [sic]…just litTle avoCado tequila”. Many are questioning if Brady needs to give an apology or not.

Many argue that Brady was not in the wrong at all as he did earn the trophy and he has all right to do what he wants to the trophy. One important reason many believe Brady does not have to give an apology is because after the Patriots won Super Bowl LV most of the Patriots attended the Boston Fairway Park. During their visit, Julian Edelman, Super Bowl LV MVP, was pitching in the pitchers tent when Edelman threw a baseball at Rob Gronkowski, who was holding the trophy, denting the trophy as he acted like it was a bat. Lorraine Grohs never mentioned anything about this incident, and this caused a baseball-sized dent into the trophy. Sportscenter article “Lorraine Grohs, the Woman Demanding a Tom Brady Apology, Still Getting Blasted on Social Media” describes  the events that happened. The article also mentions a tweet  from Lorraine Grohs where she mentions that she was cringing and “ unable to sleep” for days after this incident. Jason Licht, the general manager at the Buccaneers, replied to Grohns’s tweet with a gif stating “lighten up, Francis”.
