New year means new fashion. The 2017 Spring New York Fashion Week runway is filled with exciting and innovative new trends that are expected to be worn by celebrities on the red carpet as well as out in everyday life. 2016 was the year that resurged 1990s influence through the choker necklace and the off-the-shoulder top was a popular style throughout the year. As we look forward to 2017, we can expect styles such as trench coats, artistic prints and lots of yellow!

COLOR OF THE YEAR: YELLOW

Bright yellow is an eye-catching color that will make a statement in 2017, along with the more subtle pastel yellow. Pastels have traditionally been a classic spring fashion favorite and the trend will continue this year with different shades of pink and blue.

STRIPES

Models were seen strutting down the runway in different variations of striped patterns. The main theme appeared to be seaside stripes that looked like they were ripped straight from beach umbrellas.

KHAKI

From long, flowing trench coats to tailored slit-shouldered jackets, Khaki made a lasting impression during New York Fashion Week. The classic pant has now been transformed into endless possibilities.

RUFFLES

Frilly ruffles were BIG in New York. From voluminous skirts to asymmetrical dresses, ruffles are back in and they are predicted to be very popular this upcoming season.

FLASHDANCE SHOULDER

2016 was the year of the off-the-shoulder top. This year, that trend will take a twist with one shoulder exposed rather than both. Single shoulder cut-outs were also seen on the runway.

FLORAL PHENOMENON

Floral patterns have always been a favorite for the spring season. Many designers at New York Fashion Week used artistic, fresh and feminine patterns that highlighted the classics with an innovative touch.
