As the Girls Tennis team approaches mid-season, they focus on improvement and maintaining a positive attitude. The team currently has a record of 4-7-0 and has made great strides already throughout the season.

Head Coach Bryan Plinske praises the girls for their effort and improvement during the games.

“The singles girls all have definitely improved their drop shot capabilities, that was a skill that we worked on in practice and I’ve seen them put into match play … The doubles teams have definitely improved their on court awareness and where to go in any given situation,” Plinske said.

Not only are the girls focusing on the physical aspect of the game, but they are also focusing on the mental aspect of it.

“Mentality strength – not getting too much in my head during the match and always playing with a smile!” senior Sydney Misiek said when asked about what she has improved most upon throughout the season so far.

Plinske believes that if the girls continue to do the things that they have done throughout the season so far and are able to say that they enjoy it, then the season was successful no matter what.

“D117 Tennis Complex [was] the host site for the NLCC Tennis Tournament, both Varsity and JV, and may be the only site in the state of Illinois that [hosted] both a class A and class 2A sectional at the same time,” Plinske said.
