Lakes girls golf wrapped up the season on Oct. 7 after the IHSA Regionals.

For senior Stephenie Shaffer, the most important memories of the season would be spending time with the team on the bus and working together as a team. She also said that winning against Antioch was one of the best moments for the team. She has high hopes for the next season and thinks that the current freshmen will exceed and make the school proud.

Senior Taylor Chisolm echoed the thoughts of her teammate on the program’s future.

“[The season] was a great experience for the seniors and freshmen alike,” Chisolm said.

Senior Jhordin Andell also believed that the team did great this season and was especially impressed by the freshman who improved so much in this one season. Andell enjoyed bonding with her teammates in addition to competing on the golf course.

“My favorite memory of the season was all the bus rides home from the matches. We all became really close as a team from that it was always a lot of fun,” Andell said.

According to Andell, the future is bright for a team that relied a lot on underclassmen for production.

“Next season, I think the team will do great. The girls have all improved so much this year and they will keep doing the same next year,” Andell said.

Like Andell, Shaffer believes that good things lie in store for the program.

“I think if the freshmen that did [golf] this year [practice] more, and make Schilz and the school proud,” Shaffer said.
