As the boys golf season comes to a close, one member of the team got to experience sectionals. Adam Nuxoll made it to the IHSA sectionals meet this year which took place on Oct. 10. For Head Coach Kyle Naughton, he was not surprised with Nuxoll and was happy for him as well.

Nuxoll was most excited to play with golfers that all have a higher skill level than him. As a golfer, Nuxoll is most inspired by his brother. His brother played golf for four years and was also successful in the sport.

“He was the one who taught me the game and how to play,” Nuxoll said.

Nuxoll got prepared for the meet by playing a practice round at the Old Orchard course on Oct. 9, trying to figure out the path and difficulty.

“Before a meet I like to putt for awhile on the practice green and then go to the range to hit some shots before I tee off,” Nuxoll said.

The team’s and Naughton’s biggest accomplishment was their record of (8-7-1).

“They saw five different guys, three of them being seniors, end their season, it was bittersweet,” said Naughton.

As Nuxoll continues his career in golf, Naughton thinks that Nuxoll will have lots of success on and off the golf course.

As Nuxoll went through the stages of growing older, golf went with him.

I’ve played golf since I was in middle school,” Nuxoll said.

Little did Nuxoll know that only a couple of years later, he would be making it to the IHSA Sectionals meet, going up against many different golfers who will challenge him to be better and work harder.
